Green Man Of Canterbury Tile

This green lion is from a roof boss found in the crypt, known as the Black Prince’s Chantry or the Huguenot Chapel of Canterbury Cathedral. A Green Lion is quite rare compared to the abundance of Green Man carvings, but the style of this carving strongly suggests it was the same stone mason who carved the neighbouring Green Man. Whether a lion or wild cat this is a fearsome companion to the Green Man.

Fixing Points: the hole at the top of the tile. Suitable for outdoor use.
