Birds Of A Feather Terracotta Tile

SKU 18223

The design is based on Polish decorative paper cut-outs known as Wycinanki (pron. vee-chee-non-key). It is thought these started at a time when farm houses didn’t have glass windows. To keep warm the occupants hung sheep skins over window openings and small holes were cut out with sheep shears to let in light and air. Over time these evolved into much more sophisticated designs and by the middle of the 19th century they had become a popular gift for decoration in the home.

Suitable for outdoor use. Fixing Points: the hole above the beaks of the cockerels
